A Spring Like This

April and May were painful, lonely months for me because I couldn’t talk to you. I never knew that spring could be so painful and lonely. Better to have three Februaries than a spring like this.

There is value in the time we spend alone because we can learn so much about ourselves. At first glance, the quilts in the Kentucky Gallery may not immediately remind us of the modern world. But we will create patchwork art using our cellphone photos from April 2020, using quilt patterns that reveal our true priorities.
This school year, our professional development workshops focus on ways to help students reflect on their experiences during the global pandemic, with meaningful discussions and art-making activities. Each program in the series deals with a unique emotional experience (isolation, disappointment, loss, etc.) and offers ways to reflect and rebuild in the context of art education.
Teachers will earn three CPE credits for each workshop they attend. For safety, in-person workshops will be limited to 16 participants.
