Matchbox Mementos

Art can help us remember important moments in our lives and honor important people who are no longer with us. For inspiration, we will explore memorial artworks in the new exhibition Supernatural America. We will create personal, portable memorials— small boxes to help our students process unsettled feelings about the past.
This school year, our professional development workshops will focus on ways to help students reflect on their experiences during the global pandemic, with meaningful discussions and art-making activities. Each program in the series deals with a unique emotional experience (isolation, disappointment, loss, etc.) and offers ways to reflect and rebuild in the context of art education. Teachers will earn three CPE credits for each workshop they attend.
