“The action that Alive and Kicking captures is so transfixing that one marvels that dancers can keep it up for five years, much less five decades.”—John DeFore, The Hollywood Reporter

This lively dance documentary offers an intimate insider’s peek into the culture of contemporary swing dance and its resurgence in modern society. Despite the troubles they are facing, the swing dancers exhibit exuberance, joy and even giddiness while they lose themselves in the dance. Boiled down to its essence, swing dancing is about the pursuit of happiness. While some may view happiness as a passive emotion, the dancers know that it takes physical exertion to reach this state of pure bliss. 2016, U.S., DCP, 88 minutes. Recommended for 13+.
