Seeing Red is a unique documentary telling the untold stories of ordinary Americans who joined the Communist Party, the adventures they had, and the price they paid in the mid-20th century. From more than 400 interviews with former and current Party members, the filmmakers bring us an engaging, funny, and human portrait of 50 years of Red activism and attack, from its heyday in the 1930s and 1940s, to the witch hunts of the 1950s, to its final collapse after the revelations of Stalin’s crimes. Singer Pete Seeger and a dozen other rank and file members offer their never-before-told stories. Academy Award Nomination for Best Feature Documentary in 1984. 1983, U.S., DCP, 100 minutes.  Recommended for 12+.
