Tragedy Girls, a twist on the slasher genre, follows two death-obsessed teenage girls (Alexandra Shipp from X-Men Apocalypse and Brianna Hildebrand from Deadpool) who use their online show about real-life tragedies to send their small mid-western town into a frenzy and cement their legacy as modern horror legends. Mixing humor with gore, this film is sure to become a cult classic.
Filmed in Springfield, Kentucky in 2016, two of the producers, Anthony Holt and Kerry Rhodes, cast member Josh Hutchinson, and background extras are all from Kentucky. A selection of the 2017 SXSW Film Festival. 2017, U.S., DCP, 98 minutes.
Co-presented with the Louisville Film Society’s Flyover Film Festival.
