“It’s a worthy cap to one of the boldest experiments in the world of cinema.”—Chris Willman, Variety

Led by Emmy-nominated, DGA, and BAFTA award-winning director Michael Apted (Coal Miner’s Daughter, Enigma), 63 Up is the latest in a series that began with interviews with British seven-year-olds from different classes with a new edition every seven years.

This groundbreaking documentary anthology has now reached nine editions with 63 Up, gaining further illuminating insight into its premise of asking if our adult lives are pre-determined by our earliest influences and the social class in which we are raised. This issue proves as relevant to our society now as when it did when the series first appeared. The documentary film reveals more life-changing decisions, more shocking announcements, and joy and tears in equal measure.

A selection of the Telluride Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the DOC NY Film Festival. 2019, U.K., DCP, 138 minutes. Recommended for 16+.
