“One of the most humane films of the year.”—Jen Yamato, Los Angeles Times

This gripping animated documentary tells the true story about a man's need to confront his past in order to truly have a future. Amin Nawabi arrived as an unaccompanied minor in Denmark from Afghanistan as a youth and had to navigate a considerable number of cultural differences as a child refugee.

Today, at 36, he is a successful academic and is getting married to his long-time boyfriend. A secret he has been hiding for over 20 years threatens to ruin the life he has built for himself. For the first time, he is sharing his story with his close friend.

Winner of the World Cinema Jury Documentary Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and shortlisted for the Best Animated Feature, Documentary Feature, and International Feature Oscars. 2020, Denmark, DCP, in Danish, English, Dari, Russian, and Swedish with English subtitles, 90 minutes. PG-13.
