Tuesday January 19

6:30 PM  –  7:30 PM

On the eve of the inauguration of the first woman to hold the Vice Presidency, join Galina Olmsted, Assistant Curator of European and American Art at the Eskenazi Museum of Art, and Erika Holmquist-Wall, Mary and Barry Bingham Sr., Curator of European & American Painting & Sculpture at the Speed Art Museum, for a conversation about Facing the Revolution: Portraits of Women in France and the United States. Organized as part of a joint partnership between the Eskenazi Museum of Art and the Speed, Facing the Revolution explores the intersection of political and artistic revolution by foregrounding portraits of women painted by French and American artists between 1785 and 1835. Galina and Erika will discuss the lives of these women, with a particular focus on the women artists whose careers were upended by political and social revolution.

Following the presentation, guests will have the opportunity to socialize and continue the conversation in break out rooms.

This program is jointly presented by the Speed Art Museum and the Eskenazi Museum of Art. Register below to reserve a space and receive Zoom information. One registration per household, please.
