Seventeenth-century Dutch artists depicted women of all ages in a sweeping variety of contexts. This lecture addresses the question of how such subject matter was fashioned in art and its relation to daily life at that time. Dr. Wayne Franits is Distinguished Professor of Art History at Syracuse University.
