Writing Workshop: The Self & Symbols of the South

Minda Honey will lead a public writing workshop in conjunction with the performance of Unraveling by Sonya Clark.
Visitors are welcome to participate in a guided workshop focused on identifying your personal symbols of the South and how those symbols shape who you are. The Confederate flag is a symbol of the South for some, but for others lightning bugs, pound cake, and red, rich soil are the symbols that tie them to this region. Participants will have an opportunity to share their writing and listen to others.
Program is included with price of general admission and Southern Accent special exhibition ticket.
Minda Honey is a columnist for the LEO Weekly and Voice-Tribune. Her work has appeared in the Los Angeles Review of Books, the Washington Post, Success, Longreads, The Guardian, Teen Vogue and elsewhere. She has led workshops or has workshops upcoming for the Gluck Foundation, the Inlandia Institute, KMAC, Level Up Louisville, National Women in Agriculture Association and Louisville Literary Arts. Minda holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of California, Riverside.
